About

Full-stack engineer based in Valencia, Venezuela. I enjoy improving complex systems and shipping platforms teams can actually run.
Iván Álvarez

The short version

I'm a full-stack engineer based in Valencia, Venezuela. Most of my work has been on platforms that needed help — e-commerce stores under load, SAP integrations with limited documentation, and deployment processes that needed recovery. I enjoy that kind of work: reading the code, talking to the people, and leaving things in a healthier state than I found them.

Over the last four years I've helped recover and re-architect platforms serving high-volume user bases, worked with teams of various sizes (sometimes leading, sometimes contributing), and shipped multiple production systems across e-commerce, mobile, and enterprise integration. Right now I'm learning data platforms on Google Cloud — see /now for what that looks like this quarter.

I'm just as happy joining a strong team as a senior IC as I am leading one. The constant is the work itself.

Beyond code

I'm curious by nature. You'll often find me exploring cinema, cooking, or learning Japanese — currently somewhere on the long road between "comfortable with kana" and "comfortable with kanji."
