About

Platform recovery, e-commerce rescue, and GCP-bound data engineering. Full-stack engineer based in Valencia, Venezuela.
Iván Álvarez

The short version

I'm a full-stack engineer based in Valencia, Venezuela. Most of my work has been on platforms that someone else started and nobody wanted to inherit — e-commerce stores under load, SAP integrations with limited documentation, deployment processes held together with hope. I like walking into that. Read the code, talk to the people, leave it in better shape than I found it.

Four years of production platforms — recovered, re-architected, and shipped across e-commerce, mobile, and enterprise integration. Teams from solo to 15 engineers. I've led and I've contributed; the work is the constant. Right now I'm moving toward data platforms on Google Cloud. See /now for this quarter's detail.

Beyond code

I'm curious by nature. You'll often find me exploring cinema, cooking, or picking up languages — currently somewhere on the long road between "comfortable with kana" and "comfortable with kanji" in Japanese, and somewhere between "can order food" and "can read the news" in Portuguese.
